Jesús Reina

Artistic Director, violin

Recognized for his profound musicality and highly expressive sound, Jesús Reina (Málaga, 1986) is one of the most outstanding figures in today’s violin scene. His talent and interpretative sensitivity have led him to perform in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the St. Petersburg Philharmonia, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, and the Palau de la Música in Barcelona.

From an early age, Reina showed an exceptional connection with the violin. He began his training with his grandfather, José Reina, before moving to the Yehudi Menuhin School, where he studied under Natasha Boyarskaya and Lord Menuhin himself. He later continued his education at the Escuela Reina Sofía with José Luis García Asensio, Indiana University with Mauricio Fuks, and the Manhattan School of Music with Patinka Kopec and Pinchas Zukerman.

As a soloist, he has performed with the Mariinsky Theatre Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Cham- ber Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, and the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Pinchas Zukerman, Manuel Hernández Silva, and Eiji Oue. His passion for chamber music has led him to share the stage with distinguished musi- cians such as Guy Braunstein, Paul Neubauer, Judith Jáuregui, and Josu de Solaun. He has participated in prestigious festivals such as the Miami Piano Festival, Music@Menlo in California, Fêtes Musicales and the Pau Casals Festival in France, the Sonoro Festival in Romania, as well as Quincena Musical de San Sebastián and the Festival del Escorial in Spain.

In 2025, Jesús Reina was named Artist-in-Residence of the Orquesta Ciudad de Almería (OCAL), where he collaborates as a soloist in symphonic concerts, a professor in training programs for young musi- cians, and a member of chamber ensembles. Committed to education and musical development, he is, alongside violinist Anna Nilsen, the co-founder and artistic co-director of Festival Málaga Clásica and the Galamian Academy alongside violinist Anna Nilsen, a leading institution for the advanced training of young musicians. His work has been recognized with the Medalla de Honor de Málaga and the Premio Puerta de Andalucía. Beyond his performing career, he has also served as a judge on the Canal Sur television program “Tierra de Talento,” bringing classical music to new audiences and collaborating with artists from various genres.
